The conference aims to cover the state of the art in applied and empirical industrial organization. This year's workshop will concentrate on the nature of competition in the new economy and will address the following issues: The nature and role of competition in markets characterized by strong network effects, diffusion of technology and innovation, entry patterns and predation, intellectual property issues (copyright, trademark, domain name and patent) in the digital economy, competition and standard setting issues, the dynamics of competition in internet and information industries and the effect of the internet on international trade and structural approaches to the measurement and detection of of market power and firm behaviour.
