Is development linked to colonialism?

Traditionally, researchers have used colonialism and the institutions introduced by the colonisers to explain the different paths to development in North and South America. At the CEPR’s June 2022 Paris Symposium, Leticia Arroyo-Abad presented her recent study challenging this view through looking at different legal frameworks of institutions, how they evolved over time in different regions and their effect.
