Jiaying Wei is an Associate Professor of Finance at the Institute of Financial Studies, Southwestern University of Finance and Economics. She received a bachelor’s degree in finance (minor in mathematics) and a master’s degree in Investment Management from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and a master’s degree in business research and a Ph.D. in Finance from ESSEC Business School. Dr. Wei’s research interests are in empirical corporate finance and governance, ESG, shareholder activism, Institutional shareholders and asset pricing focusing on fixed income. Her work has been presented at various international conferences including the China International Conference in Finance (CICF), the Financial Management Annual Meeting (FMA), the Midwest Finance Association Annual Meeting (MFA), the Australasian Finance and Banking Conference (AFBC) and many workshops. Her working paper was featured by the Harvard Law School Forum on Corporate Finance and Amundi Asset Management on academic research. Dr. Wei has taught classes at both bachelor’s and master’s levels, including corporate finance, derivatives, financial engineering and financial economics. Before Ph.D., she worked at Deloitte and Citic Securities and she held a Hong Kong CPA.
