Yoshi Fujiwara

Professor at the Graduate School of Simulation Studies at University of Hyogo

Yoshi Fujiwara is a Professor at the Graduate School of Simulation Studies, University of Hyogo. He received his Ph.D. in Physics in 1992 from the Tokyo Institute of Technology. Prior to his current position, he was an Adjunct Lecturer, Kyoto University (2009-2010) and Senior Researcher, Advanced Telecommunications Research Institute International (ATR) Laboratories (2002-2009) and National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT) (2000-2002). He was also a Visiting Researcher at Dipartimento di Economia, Universita Politechnica delle Marche, Italy (Spring 2003).His research interests focus on the applications of statistical physics and stochastic processes including Pareto-Zipf's law, firms growth and failure; the applications of complex network science including creditor-debtor networks among firms and banks, and systemic risk on the networks; and high performance computing and visualization of large-scale socio-economic systems.He has published papers in interdisciplinary academic journals in physics and economics, and has given invited talks at conferences around the world. He is a member of the New Industrial Policy research program of the Research Institute of Economy, Trade and Industry (RIETI), Editor-in-Chief of Complexity Economics, and a member of the Society for Economic Science with Heterogeneous Interacting Agents (ESHIA).
