€-coin still slightly negative in April

• The €-coin indicator remained slightly negative and was virtually unchanged from -0.14 in March to -0.15 in April.
• Weak demand conditions and the deterioration in the qualitative indicators for industrial activities continue to act as a drag on the €-coin indicator.
• The €-coin indicator developed by the Bank of Italy provides a summary index of the current economic situation in the euro area. The indicator is an estimate of quarterly GDP growth shorn of the most erratic components (seasonal variations, measurement errors and short-run volatility). €-coin is published monthly by the Bank of Italy and CEPR.
• The next publication dates for €-coin are Wednesday, 31 May 2023 and Monday, 3 July 2023 (to be confirmed).
