Aloysius Siow

Aloysius Siow is a Professor of Economics in the Department of Economics, University of Toronto, Canada. He obtained his PhD in economics from the University of Chicago in 1981. His research focuses on the economics of the family. He has studied dowries, marriage matching, intra-household allocations, fertility, consumption and savings behaviour. His empirical studies include work on family behaviour in contemporary North America, rural China, Medieval Italy and historical Quebec. His research has been published in top ranked academic journals. He has widely lectured in North America, Europe and Asia. He was elected President of the Canadian Economics Association in 2008.
