Jim Berry is an associate professor of economics at the Lerner College of Business and Economics at the University of Delaware. He conducts research in development economics, with a particular emphasis on microeconomic issues in health and education. In the health area, his work focuses on pricing policy of health products and its effects on consumer take-up, use and impacts. In education, he examines issues of education decisions, education production at home and impacts of education policy. He has undertaken a number of projects in India, covering issues such as remedial education, adult education and pricing of education services. He is currently working on several projects in the Dominican Republic evaluating the impacts of education campaigns designed to encourage schooling. He has also conducted research in Zambia, Ghana and, most recently, Malawi. He holds a Ph.D. in economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and dual B.S. degrees in economics and political science, also from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
