CEPR, established in 1983, is an independent, non‐partisan, pan‐European non‐profit organization. Its mission is to enhance the quality of policy decisions through providing policy‐relevant research, based soundly in economic theory, to policymakers, the private sector and civil society. The results of the research conducted by the Centre's network of over 1,700 affiliated researchers, who are based in their home institutions (universities, research institutes, central bank research departments, and international organisations), are disseminated through a variety of publications, public meetings, workshops and conferences, and through a set of active digital dissemination platforms.
This is an exciting moment in CEPR’s almost 40-year history, as we have recently opened a Paris office, supported by a consortium of French public and private sector institutions, and are in the process of expanding our activities in France and plan to move our headquarters to France within the next two years. CEPR’s staff are now split between London and Paris, with the Paris office currently growing quickly as CEPR’s activities there increase.
CEPR is involved in research projects with partners across Europe, and disseminates the network’s research findings to the private and policy sectors. The Centre organises approximately 250 meetings per year, and produces over 1000 Discussion Papers together with multiple reports and eBooks.
CEPR’s funding base is very diverse. Funds are raised from the private and public sectors through a corporate membership scheme, and we also receive income from the sale of our Discussion Papers to universities and libraries across the world. We receive contributions to our administrative and management costs (or ‘overheads’) from the projects we manage on behalf of other organisations. These funds typically support our unfunded research initiatives (such as our annual Programme Symposia events), one-off research and dissemination activities (including dissemination meetings in London, Paris and elsewhere) and our ongoing office, administrative and personnel costs.
In the UK CEPR is a registered charity (No. 287 287) and a company limited by guarantee (No. 1727026). Since CEPR is both a registered charity and a limited company, its Trustees are also its Directors. CEPR is registered for UK VAT (No. 626 0156 65).
In France CEPR is governed by an Association (No. W751254631).
