Abdul Abiad

Senior Economist, Research Department at International Monetary Fund

Abdul Abiad is a Senior Economist at the Research Department of the IMF. He also worked on Hungary and Romania in the European Department of the IMF. His research has focused on the financial sector and open economy macroeconomics, and he has authored several book chapters and has published in top academic journals, including the American Economic Review, Economic Policy, and the Journal of Development Economics. In addition, he has written several chapters for the IMF’s World Economic Outlook. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania, and a BSc in Mathematics from the University of the Philippines.
