Bastian is an Economist at the Federal Reserve Board in Washington DC. He is in the Global Capital Market Section in the International Finance Division. He did his PhD in Finance at INSEAD, Fontainebleau (France). He also holds a Master in Accounting and Finance from London School of Economics and a Bachelor in Business from WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management. He does empirical research in banking and financial markets. More specifically, his research focuses on the behavior of short sellers and how short selling affects stock markets as well as on how institutional investors use news analytics services.
