Charalambos Tsangarides

Charalambos Tsangarides is a Senior Economist in the Research Department at the International Monetary Fund. He covers issues related to exchange rate arrangements and the stability of the international monetary system, external imbalances and adjustment, and macroeconomic policies in emerging market economies. His other policy and research interests focus on economic growth and development, international trade, and applications of Bayesian methods to model uncertainty. Past positions in the IMF include the IMF's Strategy, Policy and Review Department, and the IMF's African Department where he was the Lead Desk Economist for the CFA Franc zone countries. Before joining the IMF, he worked at the World Bank's African and Eastern and Central Asia Departments, and the Development Economics Research Group. He holds graduate degrees from American University (M.Sc. Mathematical Statistics), Johns Hopkins University (M.A. Economics), and George Washington University (Ph.D. Economics).
