Denis Cogneau

Professor at Paris School of Economics (PSE)

Denis Cogneau is a Professor at Paris School of economics (PSE) and Permanent Senior Research Fellow at the French Research Institute for Development, IRD. He is the Director of the master programme "Public Policies and Development" of PSE and EHESS (Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales), as well as the Co-director of the PSE research group GMonD, dedicated to international issues and development. He has a PhD from EHESS and a higher degree in statistics and economics from ENSAE (France). His past works deal with the distributive impact of social and economic policies in Sub-Saharan Africa and other developing countries. His current research projects have to do with the economic history of developing regions, the political economy of colonial empires, and the economic development of Africa over the long term.
