Douglas R. Nelson

Professor of Economics at Tulane University

Douglas R. Nelson is Professor of Economics in the Department of Economics and the Murphy Institute, both at Tulane University. He is an external research fellow at the University of Nottingham’s Centre for Research on Globalisation and Economic Policy. He has worked at the US Treasury, the World Bank, has held regular academic appointments at Rutgers University, University of Texas—Dallas, Syracuse University, the University of Nottingham, and visiting appointments at the International Monetary Fund, Washington University in St. Louis, ETH—Zurich, the University of Bayreuth, the World Trade Institute—Bern, and the European University Institute—Florence. He is a graduate of Miami University of Ohio and holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of North Carolina—Chapel Hill. His research focuses on the economics and political economy of international trade and international migration.
