Etienne is a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Namur. Before that, he was a Research Fellow at London Business School. He completed his PhD in Economics in 2021 at the Maison des Sciences Economiques (Paris 1 Panthéon Sorbonne University).
His research interests are in economic history, development economics, and culture, with a strong focus on persistence phenomena. Specifically, Etienne is interested in the origins and consequences of different institutions, including communal property rights, trust, beliefs, and the legacies of various forms of colonialism.
