Firouz Gahvari is a Professor of Economics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is also an Associate Editor of the Journal of Public Economics, Journal of Public Economics Theory, Berkeley Electronic Journals of Economic Analysis and Policy, and Economics Bulletin. Prior to moving to the University of Illinois, he taught at the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University from 1981 to 1994. A native of Iran, Firouz Gahvari was educated at the University of London (Queen Mary College and the London School of Economics), and at the University of California in Los Angeles. His main research interests are in the area of public economics.
