Gordon Betcherman

Professor Emeritus, School of International Development and Global Studies at University Of Ottawa

Gordon Betcherman is Professor Emeritus in the School of International Development and Global Studies at the University of Ottawa. His research interests are in labor economics, demography, social policy, and emerging and transition economies. Recent publications include articles on employment impacts of COVID-19 in Greece, labor regulation in developing countries, and livelihoods in fishing communities in Vietnam. He co-authored the 2013 World Development Report on Jobs. He is a Research Fellow at the Institute for Labor Studies (IZA) in Germany. Dr. Betcherman joined the University of Ottawa in 2009 from the World Bank. He holds a PhD from the University of California at Los Angeles.
