Ho Il Moon

Ho Il Moon is Associate Professor at the Institute of Economic Research, Hitotsubashi University, Tokyo, Japan. He has studied the issue of North Korea's economy and population over the past 20 years. His major study resulted in Demographic Trends in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (in Japanese, published by Akashi Shoten). In this book, he analysed dynamics of demographic behavior in North Korea, for example, marriage, famine, fertility transition, etc. And for this study, he has traveled to North Korea and discussed with Social Science Academy of DPR of Korea. One of his recent studies is the Korean historical economy, and especially focuses on the estimation of the statistical series of wage in colonial period (1900-1945). This work will be published as the book project Asian Historical Economic Statistics: Korean volume (in Japanese, published by Toyokeizai).
