Justin Pierce is Chief of the Trade Financial Studies Section in the Division of International Finance at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System. Dr. Pierce’s research focuses on the implications of changes in international trade policy for individuals and firms, and in turn, for the macroeconomy. His recent work examines the impact on the U.S. economy of the 2018-2019 tariffs and U.S. trade liberalization toward China. His research has been published in academic journals including American Economic Review, the Journal of Economic Perspectives, and the Review Economics and Statistics, and it has been covered by The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and The Economist. He is a member of the Board of Editors of American Economic Journal: Economic Policy. Dr. Pierce holds a B.A. in Economics and International Affairs from The George Washington University and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Economics from Georgetown University.
