Kène Henkens

Kène Henkens is a sociologist and affiliated with the Netherlands Interdisciplinary Demographic Institute (NIDI) of the Dutch Royal Academy of Sciences (KNAW). He is also Professor of Pension Sociology at the faculty of Social Sciences of the Tilburg University. His main research topic covers ageing labour markets, specifically how workers plan and make decisions on retirement and retirement savings, and how employers decide on hiring and firing of older workers. He obtained his PhD at the University of Utrecht in 1998 on the topic of retirement decisions of older workers. He is Head of the Department of Social Demography at the NIDI.
