Kristian Behrens is Full Professor of Economics at the Université du Québec à Montréal (ESG-UQAM), Canada. He is also affiliated with the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR). The main focus of his research is on regional economics (spatial distribution of economic activity, changes in spatial structures), urban economics (spatial sorting, agglomeration economies), and international trade (impacts of trade integration, trade frictions). He earned his PhD in Economics at Université de Bourgogne, France, and has been a post-doc and Marie Curie Fellow of the European Union at the Center for Operations Research and Econometrics (CORE), Belgium. He was holder of the Canada Research Chair in Regional Impacts of Globalization from 2009-2019.
