Megumi Kubota

Economist at The World Bank

Megumi Kubota is an Economist and works at the World Bank as a Consultant. She works on issues of international finance, capital flows and exchange rates. One of her papers, “Sudden Stop: Are Global and Local Investors Alike?" (co-authored with C. Calderón), is in the Journal of International Economics. Her paper,“Does Financial Openness Lead to Deeper Domestic Financial Market?”(co-authored with C. Calderón), is one of the first round winners at the Financial and Private Sector Development (FPD) Academy Award at the World Bank in 2010. Her Ph.D. dissertation was presented in several Conference and Workshops including the Econometric Society World Congress, the Royal Economic Society (RES) Annual Conference, LACEA/LAMES Meetings and the Macroeconomic and Financial Linkages: Theory and Practice, Peter House College, University of Cambridge. She has received grants to present in these Conferences including funding from the faculty of Economics, University of Cambridge in 2008, RES Conference grant in 2009 and the 2010 Econometrics Society World Congress travel grant. She holds a Ph.D. in economics from University of York, U.K.
