Mesay Gebresilasse is a PhD Candidate in Economics at Boston University. His research interests span development, labor, and economic history. He is particularly interested in the sources of underdevelopment and how states can impede or facilitate structural transformation. He also studies the historical origins of contemporary economic development and political outcomes. Before attending Boston University, he worked at the Governor s Academy and received his BA in Economics and Mathematics from Colby College.
