Michael A. Landesmann is Scientific Director of the Vienna Institute for International Economic Studies – a leading European Research Center on developments in Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe - and Professor of Economics at the Johannes Kepler University, Linz, Austria. He has a D.Phil in economics from Oxford University (Balliol College) and had previous appointments at the University of Cambridge (Department of Applied Economics and Fellow of Jesus College).
Currently coordinator of a large European Integrated Research Project ‘MICRO-DYN’ which includes 17 leading European research institutes using micro (particularly) enterprise data-sets to study issues of European competitiveness. Research interests include international economic integration, growth and catching-up, globalisation and labour markets, transition in Central and Eastern Europe, migration. Founding Managing Editor of Structural Change and Economic Dynamics (SCED, Elsevier Publ).
