Philippe Gugler is former Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences at the University of Fribourg (Switzerland). He holds the Chair of Economic and Social Policy and is Project-Leader on Investment Policies within the NCCR (national competence center on research) International Trade located at the World Trade Institute (WTI) in Berne. He teaches microeconomics, competition policy and competitiveness strategies and policies at the University of Fribourg. He also teaches at the WTI in Berne, the International Institute of Management in Technology (iimt) in Fribourg as well as at the University institute of European Studies in Torino (Italy) and the NIDA in Bangkok (Thailand). He formerly worked at the Swiss Ministry of Economics as Swiss delegate for GATT and WTO negotiations and at the Swiss Competition Commission Secretariat as Vice-Director. In addition, for several years, he has been collaborating with international organisations such as the United Nations (Geneva) and the OECD (Paris). He is a member of the board of several academic associations and was President of the European International Business Academy (EIBA).
