Roland Strausz chairs the Institute of Economic Theory 1 at the School of Business and Economics. He received his doctorate at the Free University of Berlin in 1998, where he finished his habilitation in 2005. Professor Strausz is member of the council “Economic Theory” and “Industrial economics” of the Verein für Socialpolitik and a research Fellow in the CESIfo Network and CEPR. He is further a founding member of the Berlin Doctoral Program in Economics and Management Science (BDPEMS). Professor Strausz' research interests lie in the area of (applied) microeconomic theory with a focus on economic settings with asymmetric information. His recent work covers topics in contract theory, optimal organizational design, regulation and product certification. His contributions have appeared in Econometrica, American Economic Review, Review of Economic Studies, Journal of Economic Theory and others.
