Roy Wada is a Senior Research Specialist in the Institute for Health Research and Policy at University of Illinois at Chicago. His current research focuses on the effects of prices, taxes, and media on consumption and nutrition patterns and their efficacy at reducing childhood and adolescent obesity, and the relationship between beverage and food taxes and employment levels.
He has previously examined the ethnic/racial disparities in adolescent obesity and the effects of body composition (body fat) on adult wage earnings. His studies have been funded by the National Institute of Health, the National Cancer Institute, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Robert Wood Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. He previously served as Assistant Researcher at UCLA School of Public Health, and received his PhD in Economics from the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies at Georgia State University.
