Ryohei Nakamura

Ryohei Nakamura is a Professor at the Department of Economics in the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Okayama University and a Faculty Fellow at the Research Institute of Economy, Trade and Industry. His research expertise covers regional science and urban economics. Prior to his current position, he was formerly a Visiting Professor at the Center for Spatial Information Science, University of Tokyo; a Visiting Fellow at the Department of Urban Studies, University of Glasgow; a Visiting Scholar at the University of California at Berkeley; an Associate Professor and Professor at the Department of Economics, Okayama University; and an Assistant Professor and Associate Professor at the School of Business and Economics, Kinki University. He earned his Ph.D. in Socio-Economic Planning from the University of Tsukuba in 1984. He has published on topics such as regional growth and development theories and urban and regional economics. His representative article titled Agglomeration Economies in Urban Manufacturing Industries was published in the Journal of Urban Economics in 1985. He heads various research programs at the Research Institute of Economy, Trade and Industry.
