Susan Hoffmann

Professor of Political Science at Western Michigan University

Susan M. Hoffmann is Professor of Political Science at Western Michigan University. With research interests at the intersection of public policy and public administration in the area of financial regulation, she is author of Politics and Banking: Ideas, Public Policy and the Creation of Financial Institutions (Baltimore: Johns Hopkins University Press, 2001) and co-author, with Mark K. Cassell, of Mission Expansion in the Federal Home Loan Bank System (Albany, New York: SUNY Press, 2010). Her journal articles appear in Public Administration Review and Public Budgeting and Finance. Dr. Hoffmann holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Master of Urban Planning degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. As a former practicing urban planner, she has held positions in capital budgeting, neighborhood planning, housing rehabilitation, and economic development.
