Tommaso Ciarli

Tommaso Ciarli is Senior Research Fellow at SPRU, University of Sussex. He is an economist with substantial research experience on economic development, technological change, growth, and the effects of conflict. In recent years he has coordinated and worked on several funded projects on the relation between conflict and private economic activity (CEPR and DFID); micro-macro models of growth and structural change and technological change (Horizon2020); the evolution of technological trajectories in rice research (ESRC and NSF); and contract farming (EU).He holds a PhD in Economics and Industrial Development from the Universities of Birmingham and Ferrara. He has previously worked as a Research Fellow at the Max Planck Institute of Economics.
