Zohal Hessami

Professor of Economics at University Of Mannheim

Zohal Hessami is a Professor of Economics (non-tenured) at the University of Mannheim, a Research Fellow of IZA Bonn and a Research Affiliate of CESifo Munich. Professor Hessami’s current research focuses on electoral systems and policy choices, political selection, women in politics, local public finances, fiscal federalism, voter biases, and political budget cycles. She studied Economics at Maastricht University and Université de Montréal. She received her PhD in Economics from the University of Konstanz in 2011 and was previously a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Mannheim and an Assistant Professor at the University of Konstanz. Her work has been published in various international journals such as the Review of Economics and Statistics, the American Economic Journal: Economic Policy and the Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization.
