Even though much progress has been made in corporate reporting of climate-related risks the vast majority of companies still do not disclose anything about their greenhouse gas emissions and those that do, do not report in a consistent way. Mandatory disclosure of important information is the bedrock on which capital markets are founded. Given the urgency of the climate crisis, information about corporate carbon emissions is becoming increasingly important. In the Policy Insight "Corporate Carbon Disclosures and the Path to Net Zero", the authors articulate a proposal for mandating corporate carbon disclosures in a simple, standardized and consistent way.

The Policy Insight is led by Patrick Bolton (Imperial College London, Columbia University and CEPR) and Stefan Reichelstein (University of Mannheim, Stanford University and CEPR) in collaboration with co-authors Marcin Kacperczyk (Imperial College London)Christian Leuz (University of Chicago, Booth School of Business)Gaizka Ormazabal (IESE Business School and CEPR) and Dirk Schoenmaker (Erasmus University Rotterdam and CEPR)
