How to rebuild Ukraine
A year after the start of Russia’s war on Ukraine, the losses have been massive, but Yuriy Gorodnichenko says that it’s crucial to start planning the reconstruction of Ukraine. In the 1st CEPR Paris report, entitled ‘Rebuilding Ukraine: Principles and policies’, Gorodnichenko and co-authors conclude that Ukraine’s reconstruction is an opportunity to modernise the country, using technology that will make the new cities greener, more energy efficient and more livable. Similarly, this is an opportunity to radically modernise institutions. This past year has proved that the destiny of Ukraine is interconnected with Europe’s destiny and to global security, hence the importance of making Ukraine’s reconstruction a success story.
