David Beede

Knowledge Transfer Officer and Economist at U.S. Census Bureau

David Beede joined the U.S. Census Bureau's Federal Statistical Research Data Center (FSRDC) program in 2018 as Knowledge Transfer Officer. FSRDCs are partnerships between federal statistical agencies and leading research institutions and provide secure environments supporting qualified researchers using restricted-access data while protecting respondent confidentiality. In this role David facilitates the collection and dissemination of programmatic and scientific research needs and findings from FSRDC projects, across the Census Bureau, and more broadly with the public. David earned his Ph.D. in Economics from Columbia University. Before moving to the Census Bureau, he served as Economist in the Commerce Department’s Office of the Chief Economist where he co-authored several reports on advanced technologies, STEM occupations, and the value of government data. His primary research interest is the impact of new technology adoption on workers and firms.
