Eric Bond

Joe Roby Professor of Economics at Vanderbilt University

Eric Bond is the Joe Roby Professor of Economics. His primary areas of research are international trade and applied microeconomics. He received his PhD from the University of Rochester in 1979, and previously held positions at Temple University and Penn State prior to joining the Vanderbilt faculty in 2003. He has published more than 60 articles in professional journals, and is currently co-editor for the Southern Economic Journal and an associate editor for the Journal of International Economics. His recent areas of research interest include the trade-off between commitment and flexibility in the design of trade agreements, the impact of capital market imperfections on industry evolution, and the implications of the Trade-Related Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS) agreement for developing countries.
