Florin O. Bilbiie is Professor of Economics at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland and Research Fellow of the CEPR. Between 2010 and 2018, he was Professor at Paris School of Economics and Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and Scientific Director of Chair Banque de France, after previously holding positions at Oxford University (Nuffield College) and HEC Paris. Florin earned a BSc and MSc in Finance from ASE Bucharest in 1999, and MSc in Economics from Warwick in 2000, and in 2004 a honorary MA from Oxford, and a PhD in Economics from the European University Institute (where his thesis gained the Rotary Europa Prize for best economics thesis defended between 2003-2007). He held visiting positions with several central banks (NY Fed, Chicago Fed, ECB, Bank of England, Riksbank, etc.), the National Bureau of Economic Research, New York University (in both NYC and Abu Dhabi) and CREi Barcelona. Florin’s research focuses on business cycles and the role, effects and optimal design of monetary and fiscal policies, in environments with firm entry/product creation, heterogenous agents (limited participation), and/or complementarities; liquidity traps, forward guidance; fiscal multipliers; and models with money and incomplete markets.
