Gee Hee Hong

Senior Economist at International Monetary Fund

Gee Hee Hong is a senior economist in the IMF’s European Department. Previously, she worked in the Asia and Pacific, Research, and Fiscal Affairs Departments of the Fund, covering countries including Japan, Türkiye, Italy, and Iraq. She is also an Associate Editor of International Economic Journal (from 2019). Prior to joining the Fund, she was a senior analyst at the Bank of Canada. She holds a Ph.D in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley. Her research interests lie in the area of monetary and fiscal policies as well as firm dynamism and productivity, and published in leading peer-reviewed journals including the American Economic Review, Review of Economics and Statistics, and the Journal of Monetary Economics.
