Giorgio Basevi

Professor Emeritus of International Economics at University Of Bologna

Giorgio Basevi is Professor Emeritus of International Economics at the University of Bologna. He is graduate of the University of Genoa (1961), and Ph.D. of the University of Chicago (1965). He has been teaching for years at the Universite Catholique de Louvain. He has also been Visiting Professor at the Bologna Center of the Johns Hopkins University, at the University of Chicago, the Katholieke Universitet te Leuven, Libre Universite de Bruxelles, Universite de Montreal, Brown University, Birkbeck College of the University of London, Universite Paris I Pantheon-Sorbonne, Libera Universita di Bolzano, CESifo University of Munich.He was founding member of the European Economic Association, member of the Council of the SocieteĀ  Italiana degli Economisti, Treasurer of the European Economic Association, member of the Board of the Centre for Economic Policy Research. He is Research Network Fellow at CESifo, and Fellow of the European Economic Association. He has also been Economist at the European Commission, Bruxelles, 1965-66, member of the Scientific Committees of Confindustria, Prometeia Associates, Istituto Nazionale Commercio Estero, member of the Board of Italiano Cambi, President of MTS Roma, and Vice president of EuroMTS London. He is now President of Banca Sistema. The author of numerous articles and some books, his research interests include international trade, and international monetary integration.
