Heiner is a researcher at the KOF Swiss Economic Institute at ETH Zurich and supervises doctoral research at the Business School Lausanne. He also serves as chairman of the Association of European Economic Research Institutes AIECE. His macroeconomic research focuses on two key areas: (1) nowcasting and forecasting models, and (2) surveys and survey experiments. Further, Heiner co-manages the Nowcasting Lab (https://nowcastinglab.org), an automated code-database-website environment for GDP nowcasting.
