Herman de Jong

Professor of Economic History at University Of Groningen

Herman de Jong is professor of Economic History and former Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business at the University of Groningen. He is a specialist in the field of international comparisons of income and productivity, with an emphasis on Europe’s development process in the first half the 20th century – supported in recent by a Vici grant of the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO). He has published widely in his field, in journals such as the Journal of Economic History, the Economic History Review and the Review of Income and Wealth. He is also one of the developers of the Maddison Project Database.
