I'm Assistant Professor in Economics at Marche Polytechnic University. I obtained a Ph.D. in Applied Economics from University of Calabria in 2009 and a M.Sc. in Economics from Birkbeck, University of London in 2007. Previously, I worked as Research Economist at the European Commission, DG Joint Research Centre - Competence Centre on Microeconomic Evaluation (CC-ME). There I dealt with quantitative evaluation of EU policies across a wide range of fields to support policy-making. My research mainly falls into seven areas: i) civil wars and conflict resolution; ii) the quantification of the economi c costs of war; iii) the microeconomic impact of peacekeeping operations; iv) international migration, cultural diversity and economic growth; v) public spending and immigration; vi) the political economy of bilateral trade; vii) dual labour market and informal work. My work is largely based on data analysis and applies rigorous econometric methods for identifying causal relationships.
