Matteo Grigoletto is a PhD candidate in Political Economy at the University of Bern - under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Kai Gehring – and a member of the Wyss Academy for Nature at the University of Bern. He obtained his MSc in Economics from the University of Pisa and Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, and gained diverse experience from his time in several institutions including the European Commission Joint Research Center and the University of Zurich. His primary research focus lies at the intersection of political economy and public economics underscoring in particular the role of narratives, societal norms, and historical context in shaping economic behavior. In his work, he employs methodologies in particular from the Natural Language Processing and Machine Learning toolkits.
