Milena Nikolova is an Assistant Professor and Rosalind Franklin Fellow at the University of Groningen. Prior to that, Nikolova was a Research Associate at the Institute of Labor Economics (IZA) in Bonn, Germany, where she is now a Research Fellow. She is also a Nonresident Fellow at the Brookings Institution and a Fellow at GLO. Nikolova received her Ph.D. from the University of Maryland, College Park. She serves as an Associate Editor of the Journal of Population Economics, Journal of Happiness Studies, and the International Review of Economics. Her research focuses on well-being and quality of life, migration, entrepreneurship, and the long-term socio-economic consequences of communism. Her work has appeared in journals such as World Development, Journal of Population Economics, and Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization.
