Youssouf Camara is a postdoctoral researcher and lecturer in Economics at McGill University in Canada. In 2022, he obtained a PhD in Economics from Institut Polytechnique de Paris and Telecom Paris, with the prize for best thesis. He also holds three master’s degrees in Econometrics, International Economics, and Statistics from Paris Pantheon Sorbonne, Paris Dauphine, and ENSAE. His work focuses on impact assessments and digital payments, with a strong emphasis on advanced statistical techniques using big data and artificial intelligence. Youssouf is particularly interested in studying the impact of (un)anticipated shocks like technological innovations, social events, and climate change on the real economy. He worked as an economist and data scientist at the Banque de France and Groupement des Cartes Bancaires CB. His education and professional experience have given him a sound knowledge of economic theory and solid skills in data management and analysis. Youssouf excels at multi-tasking and leading diverse economic research projects, with a passion for using data to identify trends, deduce mechanisms to advance economic research, and formulate policy recommendations.
