The University of Oxford, CEPR, the Bank of Japan, the Bank of England, and Waseda University jointly invite applications for papers to be presented at the Workshop on Financial and Economic Developments: New Challenges and Policy Solutions.

The workshop will be held in-person on Tuesday 12 and Wednesday 13 March 2024, at Waseda University in Tokyo, preceded by the workshop dinner on Monday 11 March 2024.

The workshop will feature participants from academics and policymakers with presentations of ongoing projects and recent research papers related to firm dynamics, bank lending, price dynamics, monetary policy, and macroeconomic conditions with a focus on firm productivity and credit market frictions.

We invite submissions for this conference from interested researchers on:
Firm dynamics and financial frictions
Price dynamics and inflation
Monetary and fiscal policy
Bank lending and credit conditions

The organisers would particularly like to encourage academic researchers to focus more on policy questions. Travel and accommodation expenses of academic participants will be covered according to CEPR guidelines.

Professor Haruhiko Kuroda (GRIPS and Columbia University, and former governor of the Bank of Japan) will be the keynote speaker of the conference.

The call for papers is now closed.
