Mathias Hoffmann is Principal Economist at the Research Centre of the Deutsche Bundesbank. Prior to joining the Bundesbank’s Research Centre, he was Assistant Professor at the University of Cologne. His work covers research on the monetary policy transmission and the role of expectation formation as well as international finance, with a focus on exchange rate dynamics and international capital flows. His work has been published in the Economic Journal, European Economic Review, Journal of International Economics and the Journal of Monetary Economics, among others. He holds a MSc from University of Bristol and a PhD in Economics from Trinity College, where he was part of the Research Training Network of the European Union and CEPR on the Analysis of International Capital Markets: Understanding Europe’s Role in the World Economy.
