Melvin Stephens, Jr. is Professor of Economics in the Economics Department, Professor of Public Policy in the Ford School of Public Policy, Research Affiliate at the Population Studies Center, and Faculty Associate at the Survey Research Center at the University of Michigan. He is also a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research. His current research interests include household consumption behavior, the effects of local labor market fluctuations, education, aging and retirement, and applied econometrics. He received his Phd in Economics from the University of Michigan.
