Shekhar Aiyar is the IMF’s Eurozone Division Chief. He has previously worked on a variety of countries including Latvia (as Mission Chief), Thailand, Mexico, Indonesia and the Kyrgyz Republic. From 2009-2011 he was seconded to the Bank of England. He holds a Ph.D. in economics from Brown University, an M.A. from Oxford University and a B.A. from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University. His research interests include open economy macroeconomics, international finance, growth empirics and test cricket. His work has been published in journals such as the Journal of Financial Economics, American Economic Review, European Economic Review, IMF Economic Review, Journal of Economic Growth, Journal of Money, Credit and Banking, and Economic Policy.
