Thomas Chaney

Professor of Economics at Sciences-Po Paris - University

Thomas Chaney is Professor of Economics in the Department of Economics at Sciences Po, Paris. He is also a member of the Board of Editors at the Review of Economic Studies.  Thomas completed a Master's degree at the Ecole Normale Supérieure, Paris, in 2000, and a Ph.D. in Economics at MIT in 2005. Prior to joining Sciences Po, he was Professor of Economics at Toulouse School of Economics (2012-2016), Assistant Professor in Economics and the College and Thornber Research Fellow at the Department of Economics at the University of Chicago (2005-2013), a Faculty Research Fellow at the NBER International Trade and Investment Programme (2006-2013), and a Research Department Consultant at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago (2006-2012). Thomas is the recipient of the teacher of the year award (TSE 2016), an ERC starting grant (2013-2018), an NSF research grant (2011-2014), a Kenen Fellowship at Princeton University (2008-2009), the Robert M. Solow prize for Graduate Student Excellence (MIT 2005), and he was invited to the Review of Economics Studies European Tour (2005). Thomas is a Research Fellow at the CEPR International Trade and Regional Economics Programme.
