Thomas Chaney

Thomas Chaney is Professor of Economics in the Department of Economics at the University of Southern California, and Associated Professor of Economics at Sciences Po. He is also joint Managing Editor at the Review of Economic Studies.  Thomas completed a Master's degree at the Ecole Normale Supérieure, Paris, in 2000, and a Ph.D. in Economics at MIT in 2005. Prior to joining Sciences Po, he was Professor of Economics at Toulouse School of Economics (2012-2016), Assistant Professor in Economics and the College and Thornber Research Fellow at the Department of Economics at the University of Chicago (2005-2013), a Faculty Research Fellow at the NBER International Trade and Investment Programme (2006-2013), and a Research Department Consultant at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago (2006-2012). Thomas is the recipient of the teacher of the year award (TSE 2016), an ERC Advanced Grant (ongoing), an ERC starting grant (2013-2018), an NSF research grant (2011-2014), a Kenen Fellowship at Princeton University (2008-2009), the Robert M. Solow prize for Graduate Student Excellence (MIT 2005), and he was invited to the Review of Economics Studies European Tour (2005). Thomas is a Research Fellow at the CEPR International Trade and Regional Economics Programme.
