Ursel Baumann

Deputy Head of the Capital Markets/Financial Structure Division at European Central Bank

Ursel Baumann is currently the Deputy Head of Division of the Capital Markets/Financial Structure Division of the European Central Bank's Directorate General Monetary Policy. She joined the ECB in 2007 and has worked on the transmission of monetary policy via firms and financial markets, the ECB’s monetary policy strategy review and on projections and macroeconomic analysis of the US economy. Prior to that, she was an Economist at the Bank of England. Ursel holds a M.Sc. in Public Financial Policy from the London School of Economics and a Diplom in Economics from University of Saarland, Saarbrücken. Her research interests span topics such as monetary policy, the drivers of inflation and inflation expectations and the interaction between real and financial cycles.
