Martin Peitz is Professor of Economics at the University of Mannheim and a director of the Mannheim Centre for Competition and Innovation - MaCCI. He has been member of the Economic Advisory Group on Competition Policy at the European Commission (2013-2016), an Academic Director of the Centre on Regulation in Europe (2012-2016) and head of the Department of Economics (2010-2013). Martin graduated in Economics at the University of Bonn in 1992. He received his doctorate in Economics from Bonn within the European Doctoral Program in 1995. He then became assistant professor at the University of Alicante, Spain, and was tenured in 1999. In 2000 he was awarded the prestigious Heisenberg fellowship by the German Science Foundation (Deutsche Forschungs-gemeinschaft). He co-authored the textbook Industrial Organization: Markets and Strategies (Cambridge University Press, second edition, 2015) with Paul Belleflamme.
